Formulator
Which dosage forms does Formulator cover?
Capsules (including SR capsules), suppositories, troches, tablet triturates and rectal rockets. Each has its own calculator, and each can have its own mixing instructions appended to the write-up.
Can we bring in our existing pack stats?
Yes. API/LOT records and fillers can be imported from a CSV file exported from your spreadsheet. Formulator checks every row first and shows you what will be imported and what needs fixing, including duplicate LOT numbers, before anything is saved.
How does Formulator choose the capsule size?
It measures each ingredient against its own pack stat for each capsule size, adds up the volume, and picks the smallest size where the formula fits: under 100 %, or under 60 % for SR capsules, which start at size #1. You can also force a size, and Formulator will tell you if the formula won’t fit.
Does Formulator replace pharmacist verification?
No. Formulator does the arithmetic and shows its working so results are easy to check, but the pharmacist remains responsible for verifying every preparation.
Where does the write-up go?
To your clipboard, as formatted text. Paste it into Word, Outlook, or wherever your pharmacy keeps its compounding records.
Data & security
Does SerenRx store patient information?
No. Formulator is built around formulations, ingredients and procedures and has no place for patient details. Please don’t enter patient names or other health information into free-text fields.
Where is our data stored?
In a Canadian data centre. See Security & privacy for the details.
Can other pharmacies see our formulas?
No. Every record belongs to one pharmacy, and the database enforces that separation itself, independently of the application code.
What happens to our data if we stop using SerenRx?
Email support@serenrx.ca and we’ll provide an export of your pharmacy’s records, then delete them from our systems.
Getting started
What do we need to run it?
A current web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) on your pharmacy’s computers and an internet connection. There’s nothing to install or maintain.
How do we add our team?
Your pharmacy’s admin invites people by email from the Admin page and chooses their role. Staff can use the calculators and view reference data; admins can also edit records, settings and users.
How much does it cost?
SerenRx will be offered as a subscription. We’re currently working with a small number of pharmacies and will publish pricing when plans are available. Get in touch to talk about your pharmacy.
